Lofty White Label Pinot Noir
Wine
De Salis Wines Lofty White Label Pinot Noir is sourced from the estate's Lofty Vineyard in the Orange region. It lies at 1,050 metres altitude in basalt soils over a limestone base.
The blend contains MV6, 114, 115 and 777 clone Pinot Noir grapes. Each is fermented separately after a fortnight of cool soaking.
During fermentation, the juice is allowed to reach temperatures of over 30C and is plunged twice daily. The wine is then matured in one third new French oak barrels. Prior to bottling it is triple racked, but not fined or filtered.
Crimson red, De Salis Wines Lofty White Label Pinot Noir has sweet red fruit flavours leading into spicy notes and an earthy, stalky structure. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
